Emily began studying the violin at age three. Her most prominent childhood teachers were Beverly Beheim in Anchorage, Alaska and Therese Fetter and Fred Halgedahl in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree (2006) in Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music as a student of Mikhail Kopelman (2002-2006) and later Zvi Zeitlin (2006-2008). Emily has attended numerous summer festivals, including the Indiana University Summer String Academy, Academy of Music at Ramapo College, Hot Springs Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West. As a soloist, Emily has performed with the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, Laredo Youth Orchestra, and the Laredo Philharmonic, and has given solo recitals all over the country. She was the solo violinist for several off-broadway productions at Geva Theatre in Rochester, NY, including Sondheim’s COMPANY and SWEENEY TODD and was cast onstage as ‘The Fiddler” in their production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL as well as BABES IN ARMS and SPRING AWAKENING at Nazareth College. An active orchestral musician, Emily performed frequently with the Rochester Chamber Orchestra, Rochester Oratorio Society, Buffalo Philharmonic, Syracuse Symphony, Symphoria, Binghamton Philharmonic, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, Columbus Symphony (GA), Laredo Philharmonic, Corpus Christi Symphony, Victoria Symphony, and the Mid-Texas Symphony. A passionate chamber musician, Emily has been a member of the Marini String Ensemble, Quartsemble, Cedar Valley Chamber Music Festival, Hill Country Strings, Terra Vista Strings, and Divisi Strings. She has held faculty positions as a chamber music coach at the Eastman Community Music School, Hochstein School of Music and Dance, and has taught privately at the Kanack School, Sugar Land Music School, and currently maintains a private home studio in Houston. When not playing the violin, Emily is a busy mom of two beautiful children and an avid runner. You can also find her in the independent film The Beast Pageant (2010) in the dual roles of actor and musician.
